What I Did: Today I was assigned to work with a team on a project, this project is an animation that we must all work together on. We all discussed the story that we had been given to see if there were any problems we had with it and what changes we could maybe make. We then all decided on roles we should then focus, I assigned myself to work on the main character, Charlie.

First thing I did was create moodboards, why was so I could then reference those when creating my pieces. Since with Charlie he’ll be both 35 at the start of the animation and then 85 at the end I created two moodboards. Also creating a moodboard "is a way to collect different creative information in order to prepare for a new project." this meaning creating these moodboards would help know in which direction I should go in. His younger self would dress smartly so I looked at waistcoats, shirts and trousers he would wear. I also looked at hairstyles he could have, why I did this was to get a better understanding of what his hair could say about him and also having reference to that hair would help in how to structure it better.

I felt that I was very communicative my team and the team leader, I would continuously ask questions. Why I did this was so that I was on the same page as my team and it allowed me to know fully what I should be doing. I will continue to communicate with my team so I can then create my best and most cohesive work.

At home I did more moodboards looking at character proportions, why I did this was so I could can get an idea of how Charlie could look and I could use these images as reference in the future. I also took a look at facial expression sheets, why I did this was to get a better idea of how to express Charlie through expressions. I feel that facial expressions are an area that I need to improve on, so I will do more into that area in the future too.

I also watched some videos into cinematography and how to use lighting to convey certain emotions or moods, why I did this was since i will have to create a storyboard and I want to have the best understating I can of how to use shots to convey certain emotions and themes. One of these videos talked about loneliness, they talk about how the frame within a frame can be used to "invite the audience to feel as if they are looking in on intimate moments of people's lives", I wish to use this in some of my shots in the storyboard so the viewer feels as if they are getting an inside look into Charlie's life.

Looking into a frame within a frame I learnt that it can be used as "a great way to lead your viewer's eye into a photo", this will lead viewer's eye in the animation to look at Charlie a more than anything. To use this I will get the camera to look through doorways.
