What I did: Today I focused on creating the side view of both Charlie and Todd. This would provide the modeller with as much reference as possible when modelling them in 3D. Too help me get the correct proportions similar to the front view one I used the ruler tool in Photoshop. This allowed me to know how long the head was or waist for example. In the end I am happy with how the side view turned out with Charlie, he looks identical to the front view version and all his proportions are correct. Before creating his side view I looked at other turnarounds people have done to see how they look, the reason why is too get a better for how it is structured and I could try to replicate that. I learnt that some artists remove the arm on the side angle and put it to the side, this is to show the side of the body and give it detail.
I feel that I could have been more efficient with my time, the reason why is say this is because I only managed to get Charlie done and only the head of Todd. I feel this is because I am not familiar with drawing characters in a side view. In the future I will do more research to help me, such as looking into videos of people explaining their process.
At home I watched videos of artists creating turnarounds and side views of characters, I learnt that the artists draw the outline of the character first before adding or filling in colours and detail. I will do this in the future since it's better to get the overall shape of the character before adding detail and it doesn't take up as much time if I need to make any adjustments. I also saw that one of the artist whilst drawing the front view put a line down the middle and the drew one side then mirrored the other. I will try this out in future pieces since it'll be quicker and keep all the proportions identical.
