What I did: Today I focused on watching more of "Broadchurch" to get ideas for possible shots and effects that could be used in the animation.
In a scene there are two characters talking to each other with the camera facing the back of one of them. This could be done when Charlie is talking to death, the camera could be facing Charlie with death's back towards the screen. The reason why for this position is so the viewer focuses primarily on Charlie so they can see his face and body language to what is happening. There are also scenes where the camera cuts between two characters talking, one appears on the right side of the screen and the other on the left, why I point this out is that it's another possibility with what can be done when Charlie is talking to death, Charlie could be on the right so represent a biased mindset and death on the left to show an unbiased one. It would also be easier and why I say this is because we'd have to position the camera in such a way to show both death and Charlie and since death is a taller character they might take up most of the screen. Having the camera focus primarily on each character would be easier.
There was a scene that shown a character inside their house, the camera is viewing through their window from a distance. This could be done with Charlie's house, however it would take more work for just one camera shot. Why I say this is because it would require the outside of the house to textured and some more assets, such as bushes to be created for one shot.
Regarding music, in some serious scenes it would start to get louder to drown out other sounds and in other instances it would get quieter. This is something that could be maybe be done when Charlie realises he's become deaf, having it be louder or quieter can represent what is happening his head. Louder to show how he's confused and scared, quiet to show he doesn't know what to think. However, I could also be a possibility for there to be no music or sound either, the reason why I say this is that since Charlie has gone deaf all sounds can be cut off to make the viewer feel as if they are Charlie and they cannot hear anything.
After writing down my notes I started to write down ideas that I came up with whilst watching these shows and films. It was important to think about the advantages and disadvantages, why is because to get some shots it would require extra work. For example, the shot outside of Charlie's house would require more assets to be created and the outside to be textured and that seems like an unnecessary amount of work to be done for one shot. I also had to think about whether going in certain directions would go with the theme of the animation and what I want to go for, I mentioned that I would rather go with primarily still shots. So certain notes that I wrote down didn't mean anything, such as with the camera never staying still in "Mad Max: Fury Road". Overall, I would say I've learned more and got some news ideas from watching these films and shows.
