What I did: Today I focused on updating the older version of Charlie's turnaround and continuing with creating thumbnails for the third act.
Why I had to update the turnaround was because I received feedback on it and how to show more of a difference between old and young Charlie. Changes I made were giving him some more weight, removing some hair and adding some stubble. Also make some changes to his shoes. I started of by removing hair from the top of his head and extending how far it goes out on the sides, since it looked shaved before. I then added some weight around his stomach since I though he would be more top heavy, that's why his legs look almost the same, I extended out his thighs. I gave him stubble then faded the layer so it doesn't stand out to much. The way his feet looked before didn't look right based on feedback, so what I did was look at reference of shoes to help me understand how it should look and that helped me greatly.
I then went onto creating thumbnails for the storyboard, I wanted to experiment with what I learnt from watching the films and shows I saw on the weekend. This resulted in a thumbnail of the camera looking at Charlie through the books on his shelf, Charlie appearing on the right of the screen and death on the left to show the difference in mindsets. I also tried out a top down view shot, the reason why was because it wasn't a type of shot I used before, looking at what I created I'm happy with it. However, I will research more into it to see how objects may changed based on the angle.
At home I focused on getting some more sketches done for possible thumbnails. I tested out shots from the kitchen of the camera looking at objects, such as Charlie's mug, coffee and a box of cereal with Charlie looking blurred in the background. The reason why I chose for him to be blurred was because I wanted him to walk towards the camera and since it's been 50 years it could be a surprise for the viewer to see how he has changed. I also did more sketches of death to see if I could get any more possible shots for them, I will continue to do more sketches to find different possibilities.
I then went onto watching "Death in Paradise" to get some new ideas. This is where I got the idea of Charlie walking towards the camera since in a scene in the episode the camera stays in place whist a character walks towards it. Something I never picked up on before was that the camera cuts to show the character's faces whilst talking. Why I point this out now is because I realised it's something I haven't tried to do before with the thumbnails, I have the characters from a side view. Noticing this I will start to test out what I have learned so far and blend it with the characters looking towards the camera rather to the side.
